Today’s Student Chapter Spotlight is the MIS Society at Villanova University, in Pennsylvania.
The Chapter at VSB recently grew from 19 members to 29 during the 2013-2014 academic year thanks to some hard work and exciting topics at their meetings. Meetings averaged around 20 members and the topics ranged from new tech like Google Glass, 3D Printing, and Virtualization. In addition to these student-presented discussions, their Chapter also noted in their Annual Report that they had representatives and tours from firms such as
“EY, Excelacom, Charles Rivers Associates, IBM, FactSet, and Deloitte Consulting. Furthermore, we organized site visits to Clarks Shoes Distribution Warehouse, Utz Potato Chip Factory, and SAP’s North American headquarters.”
In order to keep their members aware of all of these unique speakers and tours, the MIS Society at VSB used weekly email newsletters, their website and Facebook Page, and University services to post events on bulletins and in University newsletters.
It’s always exciting to seeing the variety of topics and speakers that Student Chapters from across the world pull in to learn from – and in this case from a leadership team of 5 core people! It just goes to show that hard-work from a dedicated team pays off!
